Behind the Scenes: Chapter Fourteen of Wrongful Accusations
Another Twist. Another Disappearance. Another Race Against Time
Just when things were starting to calm down, Sassy got another mystery dumped in her lap.
This chapter opens with some long-overdue “normal life” things: paying bills, updating Shannon’s background checks for new housekeepers, and celebrating her younger twin sisters’ 18th birthday at a packed teen club. 🥳
Sassy even gets to reflect a bit—on life, family, and how her mole-spotting instincts might be the key to cracking open this entire mess...
And then things take a SHARP left turn. 😳
Marcus calls with a bombshell:
Kadijah Muhammad has disappeared again.
And this time, it doesn’t look like she worked alone.
“There’s no way she could have overpowered him, cut up his body, and dumped it without help.”
So now the question is: Who helped her?
Before Sassy can even wrap her mind around that...
Shannon goes missing.
No calls.
Didn’t pick up her daughter, Nedra.
Not with Pearce.
And the house? Spotless. Smelling like incense.
“Kadijah has her. She’s going to kill Shannon if you don’t find her.”
—Mrs. Alma
This one line made my stomach drop. 😮
What makes this chapter hit hard?
Foreshadowing that pays off: Kadijah’s mysterious behavior, the mole/tattoo discrepancy, and her skill at disappearing are all clues we’ve been gathering.
Multiple mysteries, one thread: Kadijah, Peaches, and Hinniyah are still one person—but now the question is, how far will she go to protect her secrets?
Writer Tip of the Week:
Raise the stakes by endangering someone the detective likes.
It doesn’t have to be a loved one, but make sure it’s someone they would fight for. Sassy has grown quite fond of Shannon and would do anything for her. Having something happen to Shannon makes your story instantly more gripping.
Favorite Line:
“Kadijah has her; she’s going to kill Shannon if you don’t find her.”
I mean—how do you not flip to the next chapter after that?
Next up: Sassy’s on the trail again. Kadijah is out there. Shannon’s life is in danger. And Sassy? She’s not letting anyone else she cares about vanish without a fight.
You in?
Until next time,
Susie

I like lead-ins to the next chapter. Sometimes they can be strong or slightly vague,
