Behind the Scenes: Chapter Thirteen of Wrongful Accusations
She’s Caught – But the Plot Still Twists
Let’s just say justice finally made her entrance…
This chapter was wild from the jump. Our girl Sassy and her ride-or-die partner Cole Slaw flew to Philadelphia to find the runaway housekeeper—aka Kadijah, aka Peaches, aka Hinniyah Muhammad—only to discover:
She’s married to Sassy’s ex-husband, Carl.
Yep. Shannon’s housekeeper was also:
The wife of the murder victim
The wife of Sassy’s ex
A flight attendant
A house cleaner
A woman with layers upon layers of secrets
When Peaches walked in and saw Sassy, she tried to play it cool, but that vice-grip handshake said everything.
But Sassy? Already two steps ahead. She made the call from the upstairs bathroom. When the cops knocked, Peaches made a break for it—but Cole Slaw wasn’t having it. She shut it down fast.
Now let’s talk, Carl.
Poor guy was blindsided. First, his wife disappears, then she reappears—just to get cuffed and carted off for murder. Still, in true plot twist fashion, Carl asks:
“Do you think I could get custody of her boys?”
Carl! Sir! What?!?
Meanwhile… Shannon’s reaction?
Hilarious. Wildly relatable. Totally over it.
“My housekeeper, my daughter’s father’s wife, is also married to your ex-husband. My head hurts.”
Same, girl. Same.
Writing Takeaway: How to Pull Off a Twist Like This
If you want to write a moment readers will scream-text about:
Plant breadcrumbs: Kadijah’s absence, her double life, her attitude—they were all red flags that seemed small.
Give it personal impact: This isn’t just about solving a crime. It hits Sassy in her past, her present, and her relationships.
Use humor to balance the chaos: Between Carl’s confusion, Cole Slaw’s Philly traffic meltdowns, and Sassy’s signature sass, the tension never overwhelms the reader.
Favorite Line:
“Even with a cast on, this girl had skills.”
Sassy is back in Memphis, the mysteries (mostly) solved, and her love life? Still thriving. 🫶
